The Buckaroos are sending three powerlifters to the state meet following their performances at the Boys Regional Powerlifting Meet at Decatur High School Tuesday, March 4. The three boys to earn state qualifier positions, out of 15 lifters, were Lesavier Gutierrez, Jack McKay and Nathan Roberts.
The 2024-2025 District 8-3A All-District boy’s basketball awards were announced last week. 10 Buckaroos players received accolades, led by junior Jaime Cruz, who was named to 1st Team All-District.
The Lady Bucks (67-1, 2-0) held a 5-2 lead going into the top of the seventh inning, looking to close out a win in their District home opener Friday, March 7 against the Tolar Lady Rattlers (87, 1-1). But then the wheels began to come off as the Lady Rattlers nearly batted around and tied the game with two outs in the inning.
The Lady Bucks battled from start to finish as they traveled to Comanche to face the Maidens to open up the District season Wednesday, March 5.
Last week’s Mineral Wells softball tournament was a tale of two days for the Breckenridge Lady Bucks. The team started the tournament with two blowout wins Thursday, Feb.
With a region-high 18 lifters competing Friday, Feb. 28, the Breckenridge girls powerlifting team won the regional powerlifting meet at Bells High School.
Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes revealed its 2025 All-Star rosters last week for the All-Star Festival set for June 3-7 in Abilene and Brownwood. The 26th annual All-Star Festival includes football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball and cheerleading.
The Abilene Icebreaker tournament went off Saturday, Feb. 22 after bitter cold weather canceled the games Thursday and Friday. The Lady Bucks (2-4-1) played two games in the shortened tournament and split the two, winning 3-2 against Haskell (0-2) and losing 14-4 against Clyde (6-2).
After cold weather pushed games to only being played Saturday, Feb. 22, the Buckaroos played two games in the Clyde Tournament.
The 2024-2025 District 8-3A All-District awards were announced last week and seven Lady Buckaroos received recognition. Senior Karsyn Smalley was named to 2nd Team All-District after a season in which she recorded 220 points, 126 rebounds, 39 assists, 60 steals and six blocks.
