Gutierrez, Jackson named Athletes of the Week

With basketball season now over, spring sports have begun to come into focus and the powerlifting season nears completion. As the powerlifters work to compete for the regional meet, softball and baseball have started to hit the ground running.

Bucks fall short in final game

The Breckenridge Buckaroos (15-7, 7-7) had a tough end to the season on the court as they dropped their last three games, road losses to Peaster and Comanche and ending with a Senior Night loss to the Tolar Rattlers (15-7, 10-4), 56-46, Tuesday, Feb. 11.

West named Region 2-3A Assistant Coach of the Year

The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) announced the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Regional Coaches of the Year for football last week, with a familiar face receiving honors. Breckenridge Buckaroos assistant coach Jeremy West was selected as Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in Region 2-3A.

Bucks hold on to drop Bulldogs

After seeing their early lead dissipate, the Buckaroos (15-14, 7-4) battled to the end against the Millsap Bulldogs (9-22, 3-8) before ultimately coming away with a 47-44 win Friday night. The Bucks got out to a 20-7 lead in the first quarter and it seemed that they couldn’t miss, with six different players scoring at least one basket in the frame.

Lady Bucks drop heartbreaker to Millsap

On senior night for the Lady Bucks (2-29, 1-12), three seniors Ruthie Valdez, Allie Valdez and Karsyn Smalley were recognized before their game Friday, Jan. 31 against the Millsap Lady Bulldogs (7-23, 5-8). The Lady Bucks stayed within striking distance for the entirety of the game, but fell just short as they lost 31-27.
