The Breckenridge Buckaroos baseball season came to an end Thursday, May 4, with a pair of bi-district playoff losses to Holliday. The Buckaroos, who finished fourth in District 8-3A met the Eagles, who finished as champions of District 7-3A. The two teams played in a best-ofthree series at Jacksboro High School.
The district schedule is complete and the bi-district match-ups are set. After splitting games against Early and Peaster last week, the Lady Buckaroos finished third overall in District 8-3A.
The Breckenridge Buckaroos earned important wins last week in games against Early and Dublin. Looking to build momentum and secure a spot in the postseason, the Bucks are comfortably in contention for the playoffs in third place with a two-game lead over fourth-place Peaster, as of Monday.
The Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos’ offense stole the show with a combined 31 runs over two games last week in wins over Eastland and Dublin. The defense followed with back-toback shutouts. The Lady Bucks are one win from securing a playoff spot with the pair of wins.
The Breckenridge Buckaroos looked to build momentum last week as the team nears the midway point in its district schedule. While the Buckaroos could not overcome a six-run fifth inning Tuesday, March 28 at home against Peaster, in a 7-3 loss to the Greyhounds, they bounced back Friday, March 31 with a comeback 8-7 victory over Millsap at home.
Chase Lehr set a new record Saturday, March 18 at the PK Relays in Graham, with his time of 1:55.71 in the boys’ 800 meter run. The previous record was set in 1968 by Nolan Stewart, with a time of 1:56.10.
Breckenridge Buckaroos baseball won a pair of games last week as they began their district schedule. The Bucks scored 20 runs over two games in victories over Comanche and Eastland. With the wins, the Bucks start district at 2-0.
Due to last week’s inclement weather, East and South Elementary Schools rescheduled their planned “Day of Awesomeness” for Friday, March 10. The event is being held at Buckaroo Stadium to mark the end of a large fundraiser in which all the elementary children were encouraged to participate.
