Property owners can protest property appraisal values

Property owners who disagree with the Stephens County Appraisal District’s appraisal of their property for local taxes or for any other action that adversely affects them may protest their property value to the appraisal district’s Appraisal Review Board (ARB).

City continues to see growth in sales tax returns

The city of Breckenridge will see another increase in sales tax returns this month from the same period a year prior. These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

Early voting in runoff election ends Friday

Early voting began Monday in the runoff election for the March primaries. A runoff election is held for the Democratic and Republican candidates in which no single candidate earned more than 50% of the vote in the March 1 primary election.

BISD to host retirement celebration

Property owners should soon start receiving appraisal notices for 2022

Property owners may soon receive an appraisal notice from the Stephens County Appraisal District. The appraisal district mailed about 11,500 appraisal notices last Wednesday, May 4. City, county, school district and other local taxing units will use the appraisal district’s value to set your 2022 property taxes.

BISD agrees to review Chapter 313 application

A Chapter 313 application from La Casa Wind, LLC, from NextEra Energy Resources, was approved by Breckenridge ISD last week during a special meeting. The application is related to a 150 MW wind energy farm being considered for the southeast portion of Stephens County.
