E-Z Stop robbed over weekend, police investigating

The E-Z Stop convenient store off Walker Street was robbed last Friday night, with the culprits making off with money and cigarettes, according to police officials. Nobody was hurt in the exchange.

The suspects robbed the convenient store around 11:50 p.m. at gun point. Chief of Police Larry Mahan said they have been investigating the incident since the weekend, but have had trouble getting any traction in the investigation.

City Commissioner's pass panhandling changes, gas rate increase, table item on parking

The Breckenridge City Commission met Tuesday afternoon and passed a variety of new ordinances, as well as a public hearing regarding the classification and definition of townhouses in the city. One ordinance passed also included raising gas rates.

Other ordinances passed included more strict regulation on panhandlers and peddlers within the city’s public spaces  Another dealt with parking, which would have created stricter rules on how and where residents were allowed to park their car. But after a resident voiced concerns, the item was eventually tabled.

2018 midterms keeps Texas red, splits congressional chambers: ANALYSIS

Texas has voted to remain red in the 2018 midterms, sending Sen. Ted Cruz back to Washington for another term, while keeping the GOP stronghold in place in the state legislature with Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton.

In terms of Breckenridge and Stephens County, Rep. Jodey Arrington bested Miguel Levario, bolstering 75 percent of the vote to win District 19. Rep Mike Conway in District 11 received 80 percent. In Stephens County, not one Democrat won an election. The only proposition on the board, the “legal sale of beer and wine,” passed with 982 votes to 266 against.
