TxDOT completes resurfacing project

The Texas Department of Transportation recently completed a resurfacing and roadway restoration project on West Walker Street in Breckenridge. According to Lisa Tipton, Public Information Officer for TxDOT’s Brownwood District, crew wrapped up the work last Wednesday, Aug. 3.

BPD, BISD team up to ‘Fill the Bus’

The Breckenridge Police Department helped “fill the bus” this past Saturday, Aug. 6 with an event held in the parking lot at Walmart. The purpose is to collect school supply donations for those in the community who are in need.

City begins installing new water meters

The city of Breckenridge began the estimated twomonth project of installing new water meters last Monday, Aug. 1. Each of the city’s current commercial and residential water meters will be replaced during this project.

Gas prices continue to fall around state

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 15.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.66/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 76.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 81.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 14.8 cents in the last week and stands at $5.27 per gallon.

DSHS receives nearly 15,000 monkeypox vaccines

The Texas Department of State Health Services has received and distributed 14,780 doses of the monkey pox vaccine to local health departments and DSHS regional offices. Another 27,000 doses could be made available by the Strategic National Stockpile.
