William Standifer, 89, of Breckenridge, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 25 at Gunsight Baptist Church, with Rev. Rex Boggs officiating. A private interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

William Elbert Standifer was born Aug. 2, 1928 in True, to parents George Elbert Standifer and Brookie Mae Lowder Standifer. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and was a cook before he was discharged in 1964. 

Lennie Nored of Breckenridge passed away May 9, 2018.

He was born in 1957 in Graham, to Jimmy Lee Nored and Johnnie Elizabeth Swan.

He would help anyone he could. Lennie was a good and kind soul. He will be missed by family and friends.

Jon Blackshear, 52, of Breckenridge, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Robert Jon Blackshear was born to Robert James Blackshear and Irma Odom on Feb. 21, 1966 in Tallahassee, Fla. On June 4, 1988, Jon married Tracey West in Mayo, Fla. They later welcomed two sons. 

Beatrice “Bea” Walton, 96, passed from this life to the next on Monday, May 14, 2018. Funeral Mass with Father DeWayne Adams officiating will be held Thursday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Breckenridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Walton family home, 1502 W. Elm, Breckenridge from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. 

Eva Lucele Boyd-Latham, 75, a lifelong resident of Breckenridge, went to be with her Lord and savior, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at the Elliott Street Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. 

Lorene Green, 74, of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 17 in the Caddo Cemetery with Rev. Jim Caraway officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 at Morehart Mortuary.

JoAnn Freeman passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018.

JoAnn was born Oct. 9, 1939 in Montague County, to Elmer and Margaret Carr. She was the first secretary and treasurer of American Motors and worked there for 10 years. She then gave over 30 years of dedicated service to Jerry Durant Auto Group.

She was a hard worker, beloved mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Carr and Margaret Carr Wright; and stepfather, Frank Wright.

Forrest Fichthorn, 91, of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 18 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Otho Noggle officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at Morehart Mortuary.

L.C. Boyd, 85, passed from this life to the next Monday, April 30, 2018 in Athens. Funeral service with Otho Noggle officiating will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 4 p.m. in the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m., prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. 

Grady Boggs, 54, formerly of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 in Austin, after a long battle with a rare genetic disease, Huntington's. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19 in the Hart Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
