A Breckenridge mother has set up a scholarship fund in the memory of her son, which has raised $1,000.
Sherry Davis set up the fund in the name of her son, Ben Davis, who passed away in November 2017. This year Davis had t-shirts printed and a total of $1,000 was raised.
This year’s scholarship winner is the Lil Bucks Football Program.
“Ben just loved football,” Davis said.
Davis is hoping that with each year, the scholarship brings in more funds for different recipients.
After nearly 37 years at First Presbyterian Church in Breckenridge, Rev. Andrew Channer is retiring to Abilene. A long-time resident of the city, as well as a busy member in the community, Channer said his stay in Breckenridge has been one of love.
“Breckenridge is my home,” Channer said. “I love this place.”
