The Breckenridge Woman’s Forum met Tuesday, Dec. 15 for an early Christmas program presented by ‘The Piano Man,’ Henry Lee, with holiday favorites on the agenda and some Christmas carols sung by the members. He played most of the music on the guitar, which is his favorite instrument. The Forum members gathered at 9:30 a.m. to participate in their favorite card games of Bridge and Liverpool Rummy. The high score for Bridge was won by Jean Edwards and the low score for Liverpool Rummy was won by Linda Burdic.
The residents of Lake Shore Estates got organized to have their first Christmas Parade to go around the Lake Shore Loop to entertain residents and themselves. The organizer was Allison Bassler who had a few participants down with COVID, but everyone who participated had a grand time.
The Stephens County Commissioners Courthouse celebrated the work of Rhonda Peacock during the Monday, December 14 county commissioner meeting. Peacock received a plaque in her honor and a poem read by Micheal Roach, Stephens County Judge, written by Gary Trammel, Stephens County Attorney.
Tammy McGrady, School Counselor at East Elementary receives gifts from the Stephens County Secret Santa before the BISD holiday break. The bags and assistance were provided by Cody Dunson, Store Director of United Supermarket, and the United family. The gifts will allow students of BISD, affected by poverty, the ability to have a Merry Christmas.
The Lions and Rotary Club of Breckenridge are bringing in the holiday season with the ringing of the Salvation Army bell. Pictured are Les and Sherry Strickland of the Rotary Club of Breckenridge as the two are out in front of the United Supermarket. The two groups switch locations weekly between Walmart and United Supermarket.
The Stephens County Secret Santa is looking for citizens to aid in providing the youth of Stephens County with food during this holiday season.
Friday, Dec. 18 - Lady Bucks host the Lady Jackrabbits of Bowie. Games slated for 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 11 - Bucks travel to Cisco. Games set for 5, 6:15 and 7:30 p.m..
Friday, Dec. 4 - Chamber will distribute the Banquet in a Box @ the Trade Barn at the City Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
