Burn ban lifted

Following large amounts of rainfall Friday, Oct. 28, Stephens County Judge Michael Roach rescinded the burn ban on outside burning in throughout the county.

Sloan Everett Memorial Bike Ride this weekend

The Pure Country Pedal, an annual bike ride in memory of Sloan Everett, will be held this Saturday, Nov. 5 at Breckenridge City Park. Everett is a local cowboy who lost his life protecting cattle during a wildfire in the Texas panhandle.

SCSO to purchase new vehicle locally

The purchase of a new vehicle for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office from a local dealership was approved by commissioners Monday during a special meeting. The approval followed last week’s request from Stephens County Sheriff Kevin Roach.

Voters turning out for Nov. election

As of Monday, early voting turnout for the November General Election is at 857 voters, or 15%, of the 5,714 registered voters in Stephens County. There are two days of early voting left, with Election Day next Tuesday.

Tax office closed for election

The Stephens County Tax Assessor/ Collector Office will be closed next week for all other business except for elections on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8.
