The Lady Bucks played a superb match against the Benjamin Lady Mustangs before the home crowd for the first time this season Friday, Aug. 24 by only dropping one set for the win 25-23, 25- 20,13-25 and 25-19.

As football returns to Breckenridge, fans of the Buckaroos showed up in full force to support Buckaroo football. Facing a talented Mineral Wells Rams team, the contest began with a dominant start for the Bucks. The junior varsity team started the contest with back-to-back interceptions, stepping in front of passes from the Mineral Wells JV quarterback.

Lady Bucks win 2, lose 1

On Friday, Aug. 14, the Lady Bucks began a busy weekend in their warmup to district play with a match against the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs, which they lost in three straight sets, 14-25, 23-25, and 22-25, with the last two sets fought very closely, but lost the match. Jesi Warren led the Lady Bucks with a big second from Kylee Willis and lots of help from Lilly Woodward in the second and third sets.

Texas gas prices have risen 1.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.87/g today, according to Gas- Buddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations. Gas prices in Texas are 1.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 45.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Volleyball: A new slate of coaches

Head Coach Kassiah Hudson starts the season with a clean slate as the Head Volleyball coach for the Lady Bucks. She brought along Anthony Kelly as her assistant and he will coach the Lady Bucks Junior Varsity team, which has three juniors and a parcel of sophomores and one lone freshman. Coach Hudson also added Kyrah Bailey of Hawley, who will coach the freshman team. She played two years of college volleyball, which should help in the knowledge of the game area. This is her first year of coaching. Heather Reatherford is a BHS gal who has returned and she will coach the junior high girl’s volleyball and basketball teams and will have her first year of coaching. She will also help Anthony Kelly coach the Lady Bucks softball team. She was an outstanding softball player during her tenure at BHS and will have an opportunity to encourage and inspire the girls on the field. She also played two years of college softball at Angelo State University and won two state championship rings.

Under the leadership of Casey Pearce, the Buckaroos move closer to the beginning of football season after an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, August 14. The varsity and junior varsity offense/defense performed in front of Buckaroo fans and showed off an array of talent.

New season, new challenges

It is a new season and a new challenge faces all sports teams with the COVID Virus. Some teams will elect to sit out this season and the Lady Bucks may only be able to play a limited schedule of teams who are willing to play.
