SBA offering assistance to businesses, residents affected by Eastland Complex fire

Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman of the U.S. Small Business Administration announced last week that low-interest federal disaster loans are available to Texas businesses and residents affected by the Eastland Complex Fire, which occurred March 16 through March 30. SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster in response to a request SBA received from Gov. Greg Abbott on April 25.

Incumbents Ensey, Trigg returning to office

In the March Republican Primary elections, incumbents in both Stephens County contested races were able to hold onto their seats.

Incumbent Stephens County Clerk Jackie Ensey won another term, garnering 1,084 votes, or 71.6% of the vote. Opponent D’Jean Thompson had 429 votes, or 28.4% of the vote.

In the Stephens County Treasurer’s race, incumbent Sharon Trigg also won another term, defeating Nicole Cantrell, 911 votes (62.1%) to 557 votes (37.9%).

Winter weather watch issued through Sunday by ERCOT

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) issued a winter weather watch which will be effective through Sunday, Feb. 6, regarding winter weather on the move in Texas. The Fort Worth National Weather Service is forecasting snow and sleet accumulation in Young, Stephens and Jack counties Wednesday, Feb. 2 to Thursday, Feb. 3.
