Stan Carstens, 67, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, April 26. The family will welcome friends for a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 30, in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church. His interment will be a private, family-only event.
Jana Elizabeth McMillan, age 39, of Breckenridge, passed away Saturday, April 30. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at Breckenridge Cemetery Chapel, with Pastor Trey McDuff officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, May 6 at Morehart Mortuary.
Keri Vincent, 57, of Lubbock, passed away Tuesday, April 19. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Turning Point Community Church.
Carla Grace Hall, 65, of Breckenridge, went home to dance with Jesus on Wednesday, March 23. The family is honoring her wishes, and there will not be a service.
Carla was born Aug. 1, 1956, to Francis and William “Bill” White. She spent most of her life in Hobbs, New Mexico, where she met the love of her life, Dairrel “Keith” Hall. They were married June 26, 1981, but later separated. However, their love was meant to be. They were remarried Feb. 1, 2000.
Karin Lynn (Adair) Everett, 73, of Throckmorton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 20. Visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Smith Family Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Throckmorton Cemetery with Jerry Blake officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home.
Faye McCullough, 92, waltzed her way through the pearly gates in the arms of her lifelong love, Arnold, at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13. She was born July 1, 1929 in Rochester, Texas, to Richard and Dola Williams.
Faye loved life and never met a stranger. Once you met her, you loved her and were a lifelong friend. If you ever told her your birthday or anniversary, not only did she remember it, but she also thought about you on that day.
David Edward Maxwell (also lovingly known by his grandsons as Mr. Dave or Lt. Dan), 74, a resident of Pearland, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 10. David lived in Pearland for 42 years.
David grew up in Breckenridge, where he was a standout in all sports. He went to college on scholarship to play football and run track at West Texas State in Canyon. During this time, he married his high school sweetheart Jane Ellen Maxwell. They were married for 57 years.
Services for Cecil Mayes, 89, Oilman, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Cowboy Church of Erath County with Dr. James McLeod officiating. Burial followed at Breckenridge Cemetery at 3 p.m. Thursday March 10. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.
Cecil was born in South Bend, on June 18, 1932, to Elmer and Ruth (Easley) Mayes. He married Joyce LaJean Warford on Nov. 1, 1952, in Cisco. She preceded him in death Jan. 16, 2015.
David Lynn Sullivan, 88, of Breckenridge, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16. His funeral service was held at the First Christian Church in Breckenridge at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, with Cade Sullivan officiating. The family welcomed friends at a visitation in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories on Friday, Feb. 18. He was laid to rest in the Woodson Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Mya Kathryn Swanson Ebeling was the first-born daughter of Howard and Patricia Swanson on Aug. 17, 1954, in Breckenridge. A smiling blonde beauty, her childhood was full of adventures with her younger sister, Lisa, on the Muleshoe Ranch. Despite her petite stature, she raised award-winning steers and heifers in 4-H. After graduating from Breckenridge High school, she traveled abroad with her sister before attending Principia College in Elsah, Ill.; Texas Tech in Lubbock, and ultimately graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
