Kamden Tidwell capped off her successful season with a third-place finish at state.
The UIL Track and Field State Meet was held May 14-16 at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, with field events for 1A teams held Saturday, May 16.
Tidwell finished third in the Girls Pole Vault 3A event with a final jump of 11-09.00 and came home with hardware for her efforts.
A regional champion pole vault performance during the Region 1-3A track meet May 1-2 at Abilene Christian University punched Tidwell’s ticket to the state competition.
Success continues to find its way to former Breckenridge Buckaroo and current University of North Texas runner Chase Lehr, who picked up a first-place finish in the Men’s 800-Meter Run of the 2026 American Conference Outdoor Championships.
On top of his individual first-place finish, Lehr was part of the UNT team with Clarence McGill, Nehemiah Ray and Chris Johnson who won first in the Men’s 4x400 Relay during the championships with a time of 3:05.91, a program and facility record.
The next generation of Bucks and Lady Bucks have the opportunity to be trained by coaches and athletes during a series of camps being held in May and June.
Buckaroo baseball camp
The Breckenridge High School baseball camps are upcoming next week. The camp staff will be the Breckenridge baseball coaches.
Camps will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. May 26-28 for incoming first through fourth grade participants and from 10:15-11:45 a.m. May 26-28 for incoming fourth through eighth grade participants.
Buckaroo athletes were recently honored for their district performance across softball, baseball and track and field.
The Lady Bucks track and field season is continuing for one athlete who is competing at the UIL Track and Field State Meet in Austin this weekend. Kamden Tidwell took home the regional championship and punched her ticket to the state meet.
The UIL Track and Field State Meet will be held May 14-16 at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Field events for 1A teams will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 16.
Lady Buckaroo Kamden Tidwell is advancing to the UIL Track and Field State Meet in Austin later this month after her regional champion pole vault performance.
Buckaroo athletes took off at the Region 1-3A track meet May 1-2 at Abilene Christian University competing across a number of track and field events. Bucks coach Cameron Prewitt said the team finished 11th out of 34 schools participating.
A best-of-three bi-district series concluded the season for the Bucks against the Iowa Park Hawks.
Inclement weather conditions moved Game 1 of the series up a day to Wednesday, April 29 and moved the location to the Bowie High School baseball field.
After the Hawks got on the board in the first inning of Game 1, the situation did not get any better for the Buckaroos. The Hawks scored four runs in the first, one in the second and third, two in the fourth and two in the sixth.
The volleyball season has returned just before the summer season kicks off with area athletes competing in the Graham Spring and Summer Volleyball League.
Divisions for the league are split into sixth and seventh grade based off of the current school year and ninth grade, JV and varsity based off of the 2026-2027 school year.
All games are taking place at the Graham High School gyms located at 1000 Brazos St. in Graham.
Breckenridge High School will advance 13 athletes to the regional competition at the beginning of May after their standout performances at the area meet in Jacksboro.
UIL 3A Area 7 & 8 Track and Field Championship was held Thursday, April 16 in Jacksboro with athletes competing from 15 schools. As a team, the Bucks scored third place and the Lady Bucks scored seventh place in the area competition.
The first four winners in each event advanced to the regional competition where they will set their sights on state.
Following their senior night victory last week over Dublin Lady Lions, the Lady Bucks continued their momentum with a 23-6 blowout of the Millsap Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bucks traveled Tuesday, April 14 to take on the Lady Bulldogs, with things starting off positive in the first inning with two scores on walks from Rachel Burchett and Reagan Robinson.
That drive continued into the top of the second inning when Kenzie Brumley walked, Burchett scored and Aurrin Matheson singled to the left, sending Robinson home to score and bring the total to 4-0.
