Buckaroo 7 on 7 qualifies for state tournament

The BHS 7 on 7 football squad earned a spot in the state tournament by winning the recent qualifier event held in Graham going a perfect 4 -0 on the day. This makes only the second time BHS has made it to the state tournament and it has been 22 years since the first time in 1999. The coaching staff and players look forward to their opportunity and continue to work hard leading up to the statewide event.

After the first game in the Bi-District shootout, the Bucks led winning the first game, (15-5). The Bucks led all the way with Camden Escalon as the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and gave up 4 hits for 5 runs. The Early Longhorns challenged the Bucks in the fifth inning with 5 runs, but the Bucks prevailed, (15-5).

The Breckenridge Bucks varsity baseball squad needed a non-conference challenging game and the 4A Graham Steers were also looking for a seasoned opponent to help them prepare for their Bi-District showdown game against Gatesville. Both Breckenridge and Graham were slated to play their first Bi-District games on Friday, May 7.

Willis, Cooksey qualify for state meet

Willis, Cooksey qualify for state meet

Breckenridge High School will send two athletes to the Texas State Track Meet in Austin on May 7-8. Kylee Willis placed 2nd in the High Jump at 5’ 4,” which qualified her to compete at the Texas State Track Meet in Austin. Additionally, she placed 4th in the Long Jump at 17’ 9.25”. Unfortunately, she had jumped over 18’ in prior competition in Area to qualify for the Regional Meet. Willis placed 5th in the 200 Meter Dash in 26.04 seconds. Willis was also on the 4x100 Meter Relay team which placed 9th and included Shayli Harrison, Haylie Mendoza and Jessi Warren. The alternate for that team was Zaea Ragle.

BHS athletes compete at regional track meet

The Regional Track Meet took place at Elmer Gray Stadium on the campus of Abilene Christian University Friday and Saturday, April 23-24. There were 15 students from Breckenridge High School who had qualified for the Regional competition out of the Area Meet in Dublin earlier this month. Results included several personal records (PR) set.

Bucks smother Nocona Indians

The Bucks took care of business in a big way Tuesday, April 27, when they drove right through the Nocona Indians and won (12-2). The ‘Ten-Run Rule’ was invoked at the end of the sixth inning when the Bucks had collected four more runs to the already (8-2) score.

Bucks begin playoffs Friday

In the Bi-District first round of playoffs the Breckenridge Bucks, the third place team in District 7-3A, will play District 8-3A second place team, the Early Longhorns, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Escalon Field in the Owen D. Woodward Baseball Stadium in Breckenridge.

Lady Bucks finish strong, blast Lady Jackrabbits

The Lady Bucks had the final word on their regular-season record with a (14-2) blow-out win over the Bowie Lady Jackrabbits and climbed over the Bowie Lady Jackrabbits to claim fifth place in District 7 with a (4-8) record.
