Lady Bucks volleyball all-district accolades

The Lady Bucks volleyball season came to an end Friday, Oct. 24 and while it didn’t turn out the way they would hope record-wise (4-25, 3-11), they still have a lot to be proud of. A number of their players received all-district honors for their performance on the court.

The one player to represent the Lady Bucks on first team all-district was senior Lane Bartoskewitz, who was a major factor as an outside hitter all season. She finished her high school career with over 400 kills and 450 digs.

(Photo/Alex Kielar) Jaime Cruz was selected as this year’s recipient of the The Fighting Heart award voted on by the Buckaroos coaching staff and was also voted to the Jerry Tubbs Ring of Honor for permanent team captains by his teammates.

Coach Pearce announces Buckaroo coaching, player selected awards

The 2025 coaching staff and player selected awards have been voted on for the Breckenridge Buckaroos football team, announced by head coach Casey Pearce following the team’s bi-district loss to the Paradise Panthers.

The coaching staff awards are the Jackie Cooper Memorial award–given to a player with high character, who is the ultimate competitor and the best teammate–and the Fighting Heart award, given to a player who is a fighter, plays above his ability level and leads through work ethic and determination.

Lady Bucks compete in Holiday Ford Classic at Gordon

The Lady Bucks traveled to Gordon High School to compete in the Holiday Ford Classic, facing off against the Gorman Lady Panthers and Gordon Lady Longhorns.

In the games that took place Thursday, Nov. 13, the Lady Bucks lost to the Lady Panthers, 41-30, before losing 80-25 to Gordon in the second game.

Paradise ends Buckaroos' season

The Breckenridge Buckaroos (4-7, 2-3)  traveled to Mineral Wells Ram Stadium to face off against the number two ranked team in Class 3A Division 1, Paradise Panthers (10-1, 6-0), where they saw their season come to an end.

The Buckaroos lost 55-0 in the game that took place Friday, Nov. 14 as mistakes and a relentless Panthers’ offense got the better of them. After receiving the opening kickoff and going three-and-out, the Bucks allowed the first touchdown of the game at the 7:40 mark on a pass to the end zone by quarterback Ayden Olalde.

Lady Bucks knocked off by Lady Longhorns

The Lady Bucks tipped off their non-district home schedule against the Gordon Lady Longhorns, who proved too much for them to handle as they lost, 58-23.

The game occurred Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Breckenridge ISD Athletic and Fine Arts Center, with the visiting Lady Longhorns quickly gaining momentum that would never waiver. 
Defensively for the Lady Bucks, they allowed Gordon shooters too much space for wide open shots, en route to the visitors taking an 18-7 lead after the first quarter.

Lady Bucks open season with win at Abilene High

The Breckenridge Lady Bucks opened up their regular-season schedule with a win over the Abilene High Lady Eagles, 39-36.

The game occurred Saturday, Nov. 8, as the Lady Bucks went on the road and gutted out the season-opening win.

The scoring started with a free throw from Ra’Shey Losh and Paisley Thibodeaux added another two points with a putback shot in the paint. Following a made free throw and a timeout, the Lady Eagles tied the score at three with a steal and a fast break layup from Mackenzie Baker.

Bucks drop Eagles in regular season finale

The Buckaroos had a successful Senior Night as they defeated the San Angelo TLCA Eagles, 43-0, to close out the regular season. The final result was never in question as the Bucks didn’t take long to gain momentum and never let their foot off the gas.

In the game that took place Friday, Nov. 7, it only took three offensive plays for the Bucks to find the end zone. A Hunter Davis sack on third down led to an Eagles punt in the game’s first drive.

White finishes in middle of pack at state meet

The senior cross country season for Andrew White has come to an end after he competed in the State Cross Country Championships at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, finishing in the middle of the pack. 

The 3A boys race took place at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 and when all was said and done, White placed 88th out of 151 runners with a time of 17:45.50 in the 5,000-meter course. 

White was the lone representative for BHS at the meet after he posted a personal best time of 17:22.60 to finish 18th overall in the Region 1-3A Championship race in Lubbock.

Bucks shut out by Mustangs

The Buckaroos traveled to the Mustang Bowl at Sweetwater for their penultimate game of the regular season and were unable to generate much momentum, ultimately losing 44-0 to the Mustangs. 

The loss that occurred Friday, Oct. 31 dropped the Bucks' overall season record to 3-6 and 1-3 in district play. 

The Bucks went three-and-out after receiving the opening kickoff and it didn’t take long for the Mustangs to get on the scoreboard. Just over five minutes into the first quarter, Rohyn Price caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Caiden Ortiz.
