Escalon had already been selected as the Defensive MVP for All District 7-3A Baseball.

Lady Buckaroos hold off Stamford rally for 40-39 victory

The Breckenridge High School Lady Buckaroos picked up their second victory of the season after edging Stamford 40-39.

Despite facing a team with more size at the post, the Lady Buckaroos’ stiff, man-to-man defense kept them in it early with turnovers at the top of the key that resulted in points on fast-breaks.

“Since we’re small, we figured out we had to get through them or get into them and get them to foul us,” Breckenridge senior guard Carly Tennison said. “We had to figure out a way for us little people to control the game ... This gives us our confidence.”
