Breckenridge High School Boys Varsity Track Team took the Holliday Track Meet by storm and won with 160 points overall. Other teams at the meet included Iowa Park with 118 points, Holliday had 113 points and City View with 95 points.
The Lady Bucks were able to smoother the Nocona Lady Indians with timely runs right from the first inning with one run driven in. The hot bats hit in the second inning with six runs crossed the plate and then four more in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Nocona Indians got a hold of the mound and were able to keep the Lady Bucks from scoring any more runs in the game. Meanwhile, the Lady Indians were only able to scrape in three total runs to lose (11-3). The Lady Bucks were making a firm statement that they were planning to stay on top.
The Bucks Track Team edged out the Hawley Track team 153 points to 148, to take the Anson Track Meet, Thursday, March 11.
The Bucks traveled to Tuscola to play the Jim Ned Indians on Tuesday, March 2.
The Bucks participated in the Hamlin Baseball Tourney Thurs.-Sat., March 4-6 and the first game out of the gate was a Thursday, March 4 game against Colorado City, which the Bucks took (11-0).
Breckenridge lady Buck Pitcher, Caroline Turner takes her stance for her second hit in the game against the Lady Lions of Brownwood. Turner was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and led her team with two hits to win (11-7).
Softball season has gotten underway with the Lady Bucks taking on Comanche with an (8-0) win, on Feb. 9. Senior, Caroline Turner, only pitched one inning for the Lady Bucks in that game, but struck out all three batters. She gave up no hits, no runs and no walks.
C. Lehr came in first in the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 10:45.49 minutes and Evan Moore came in second with a time of 11:13.4 minutes to give the Bucks a first and second place win in the 3200. The event took place at the Buckaroo Relays Thursday, Feb. 25.
Once again it is time to get out and practice for the annual Elks sponsored Hoop Shoot/Free Throw Contest. The Contest will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at L.T. Cook Gym in Breckenridge. The Director for the contest is Wayne Justus of the BPOE Elks #1480, at 254-477-394. This contest is funded by the Elks National Foundation and is a Free Throw contest for ages 8 to 13. Each age group is determined by the contestant’s age as of April 1, 2021 and open to both boys and girls.
