Lady Bucks fall to Holliday

Friday the Lady Bucks contributed to their own defeat by committing eight errors and then the lack of batting power with only four hits for the three runs scored. Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles of Holliday had 15 hits for the 13 runs scored against the Lady Bucks.

The Lady Bucks were able to get in the win column against the Nocona Lady Indians with an (11-0) win last Thursday. They had beaten the Lady Indians earlier in the season, (11-3). This time the Lady Indians could only muster one hit late in the fifth inning, but no runs scored.

The Lady Bucks allowed one to slip through their fingers to the Bowie Lady Jackrabbits 6-7 last Tuesday. The Lady Bucks had blanked out the Lady Jackrabbits in the first and second innings and the fifth through the seventh innings, but it was what happened in the third and fourth innings that counted. The Lady Bucks gathered two runs in the second, two more in the third, another one in the fourth inning and one more in the sixth inning, but were one shy by the end of the seventh inning and lost by the one run when it was all said and done.

7th, 8th Grade boys compete at district meet

The 7th and 8th grade boys track teams competed in the District 7-3A Track Meet at Jacksboro Monday, March 29. The 8th-grade boys brought back the District Championship by scoring 165 points. The 7thgrade boys fought a hard battle against Holliday, but brought home a Second Place trophy with 150 points.

The Bucks fell behind in the first inning, (3-4) but then gained control for the next three innings before the Bowie Jackrabbits were able to score again in the fifth inning and then in the last attempt in the top of the seventh inning, with three more runs. Fortunately, the Bucks had collected enough insurance in the first three innings with three runs in the first, five more in the second to go ahead (8-4) and three more in the third to maintain the lead through the seventh and win the game (11-8).

The Bucks traveled to Nocona and took on the Indians on their home field, but after only four innings of play, the Bucks won (21-1). The third inning was the clincher with the Bucks collecting nine runs after already adding five in the first and six in the second and one more in the fourth.

The Bucks varsity baseball team took care of business after a location switch was necessary. City View’s baseball field was underwater. As result, the away game was switched to Escalon Field in Breckenridge. The word spread quickly for the home game and a Buckaroo crowd was on hand to cheer for the Bucks as they ripped through the City View Mustangs and won, (10-2).

Three Lady Buckaroos run in the 100 Meter Dash that included Shayli Harrison, Haigen Thompson and Mia Castillo, with a first and third-place finish for Harrison and Thompson respectively.

Kylee Willis turned in a record 16’ 11.75” in the Long Jump, which won her a first-place finish. She also got first in the High Jump at 5’4.” She also was the anchor leg on the 4x100 Meter Relay that won a first-place finish and the third leg of the 4x200 that took second.
