Buddy Hamilton

Buddy Hamilton, 84, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27 at home in Kerrville, with his wife and two daughters by his side. He was born Oct. 27, 1937, in Belton, W. Va., to Argile Ray and Mary Eleanor Hamilton.

Buddy moved to Breckenridge when he was nine years old and lived there with his parents until he left to go to college. Buddy excelled in high school football and went to TCU on a scholarship. Buddy was honored as the only “Mr. Buckaroo”.

Upon finishing school, Buddy went to work for Central Freight Lines and worked there until he retired in March 1996.

Janie Stout

Janice Stout, 84, of Breckenridge, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Connie Kilburn

Connie Kilburn, 61, of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 at The Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church, with Monte Morton officiating. Interment will follow in The Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 at Morehart Mortuary.

David Virgil Harris, Jr.

David Virgil Harris, Jr. “Dave,” passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, in Las Cruces, NM where resided for 33 years.

Jody Watkins

Jody Watkins went to Heaven on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022. Theadus Joan Hutchins was born on Aug. 29, 1934, in Silver Valley, TX, to Glen and Ileene Hutchins. She resided most of her life in Breckenridge and Coleman, TX. The last chapter, she lived in Granbury, TX near family.

Jody was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bill J. Watkins and her daughter, Nikki Wells. She is survived by three sons, Keith and Lesley Vaughn of Southbury, CT, Jeff Vaughn of Whitewright, TX and Chuck and Kim Vaughn of Granbury, TX. She had 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Peter Sroka, Jr.

Peter Sroka, Jr., 71, of Breckenridge, passed away Friday, Jan. 14. Mr. Sroka will be cremated and no services are scheduled as of now. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Bruce Todd

Father, husband, brother, public servant, friend—Bruce Todd was all of these.

Bruce was born Dec. 17, 1949, and died Dec. 25, 2021, from complications of Lewy Body disease. In the 72 years between those two dates, he accomplished more than most people could in two lifetimes.

Kent Michael Mobley

Kent Michael Mobley, 77, passed away in Lewisville, TX, Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021.

Kent was born on June 22, 1944, in Fort Worth, TX, to the late Thomas Pendleton and Lessa Inez (Robertson) Mobley Jr. He married Anita Cozby in Dallas, TX, April 8, 1967. Kent was a Registered Professional Land Surveyor for 41 years. He was Assistant Vice President of Credit at Republic National Bank in Dallas, TX for 13 years. Kent was a proud member of many organizations including Texas Surveyors Association, Boy Scouts, Rotary Club, and played trombone in the Breckenridge High School Stage Band.

Myrtle Smith

Myrtle Smith, 95, of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29 in the Hart Cemetery, with Pastor Dennis Hall officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation was held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28 at Morehart Mortuary.

Brendin Granado

Brendin Kenneth-Ray Granado, 19, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 at New Destination Church, with Shane Woolsey officiating. A public meal was provided from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Following the service at 4 p.m., there was a balloon release in Brendin’s memory at the Breckenridge Skate Park. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
